Before and After: Edwardian Elbow Rest Library Chair

Project 9: Edwardian Elbow Rest Library Chair.

I bought this whilst on a weekend trip to Devon. I haven’t seen anything quite like it, it’s very low sitting and the back goes back so you could just drift off to sleep by the fire…

It needed a bit of a clean up and I couldn’t wait to get searching for new fabrics for the upholstery! I actually surprised myself because I picked out a rather glitzy fabric from Harlequin.

Usually I tend to go for the more earthy colours, leaning towards the scandinavian style but for some reason I couldn’t quite find what I was looking for until I saw this beautiful fabric from Harlequin and thought you know what, why not try something different eh? So I enlisted a local upholsterer and here is the final product. LOVE IT!

January Blues? Chair Up!

January Blues Chair UpOver the past few years my mum and I have developed a chair obsession which has got a little out of control as we now have no room in our storage.

We’ve got lots of Ercol dining chairs, mainly Quaker, Windsor and Goldsmith designs, most of them are in good condition and if you’re looking for something more bespoke why not get them painted? We can paint them in any Farrow and Ball colour to match your interiors. You can find the Farrow and Ball colour chart here. We do charge an extra cost for this but I think it is totally worth it.  If  your interested give us a bell.

We’re also got some lovely upholstery chairs at the moment and in about a week or so I will have a beautiful Edwardian elbow rest chair which is going to look stunning. I’ll be doing a before and after blog post on this one.

I would definitely recommend coming to the shop, but if that’s not possible keep checking the website or email me, especially if there is something in particular you are looking for as we might just have it: anna [at] theperchingpost.co.uk.

On the Hunt for New Designers!

The Perching Post is looking for some new designers in affordable jewellery, scarves, leather bags & gloves to stock in our shop!

We’re looking to expand our gift range over Christmas and would love to be able to support new designers, however, we do have some catches:
*You have to be based in the UK and ideally we would love the products to be made in Great Britain but this is not a necessity.
*We would like to try out the items on a Sale or Return Basis for our first order.
*By affordable we mean something that you might buy for a good friend, so price ranges from £10-£60
*We’d like to have everything ready in for Christmas shoppers by Nov 22nd.
Please have a look out our online shop to see whether you think your items might fit in and have a look at our pinterest boards. We like quirky stylish products. Our target audience is affluent family’s so late 20’s to 60’s. We are also looking for Men’s gifts! They’re so hard to buy for, right?
If you’re interested please email Anna with some info or if you have any other questions: anna[at]theperchingpost.co.uk or theperchingpost[at]gmail.com
Please spread the word and share, thank you!

Farrow and Ball, Purple Carrot and Hunted and Stuffed…

Purple Carrot, a local community project based in Barnes, upcycles furniture that would otherwise go to landfill. Not only do they do this but they employ local people who are out of work or living on the margin. It’s a wonderful project and they teamed up with Farrow and Ball in Richmond to upcycle some beautiful items in the new F&B colours.

As with  ‘A Colourful Adventure‘ a delightful little book by Farrow and Ball, which follows the journey of neglected furniture into magnificent beauties, here is Purple Carrot’s furniture journey:

Founder of Hunted and Stuffed, Ellie Laycock, and author of ‘Creating The Vintage Look‘ also got involved and was able to give them some upcycling design ideas including the leather drawer straps- what an awesome idea!

To support this project we are showcasing all of these items in our shop and online under Pop Up Shop! Get in quick-  these pieces will go fast!
